Perfect for DIY Health Projects
This module works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The I2C communication is stable, and the library support is excellent. I was able to get heart rate readings within minutes of connecting it.

Solid component for learning
Great tool for understanding biometric sensing. The signal noise is manageable with a simple moving average filter. Shipping was fast and packaging protected the pins well.

Good value but needs calibration
The hardware quality is solid for the price. However, getting accurate SpO2 readings required some tuning of the LED current settings in the code. Once calibrated, it matches my commercial pulse oximeter closely.

Compact and efficient
Low power consumption makes this ideal for battery-powered wristbands. The FIFO buffer helps manage data processing without losing samples during heavy computation tasks.

Works but documentation could be better
The module itself functions well, but I struggled initially because the example code provided was for a different version of the library. Had to dig through forums to find the right setup.

Excellent sensitivity
I am impressed by how sensitive the IR detector is. It picks up pulses even through slightly thicker skin where other cheap modules fail. Great for wearable prototypes.
Q: Does this come with a ready-to-use library for ESP32?
A: Yes, this sensor is widely supported by the SparkFun MAX3010x library and Adafruit libraries, both of which are fully compatible with the ESP32 platform.
Q: Is this module compatible with 5V logic microcontrollers like the Arduino Uno?
A: Yes, the module includes voltage regulation and level shifting, making it safe to use with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers.
Q: What is the maximum distance the sensor can read from the skin?
A: This is a reflective sensor designed for direct contact or very close proximity (within 1-2mm) to the skin. It is not designed for non-contact measurement.
Q: How do I reduce noise in the heart rate data?
A: Ensure the sensor is snug against the skin to block ambient light. Additionally, implementing a digital filter, such as a low-pass or moving average filter in your code, will significantly smooth the data.
Q: Can this measure blood oxygen levels accurately on dark skin tones?
A: While the sensor is sensitive, accuracy can vary based on skin pigmentation and fit. We recommend adjusting the LED current settings in the software to optimize signal strength for different skin tones.
