Perfect for Arduino Projects
This module works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The SPI communication is stable, and the temperature readings are consistent with my calibrated reference thermometer. Great value for hobbyist electronics.

Reliable industrial prototype component
Used this for a quick prototype of a kiln controller. The cold junction compensation handles ambient temperature changes well. It survived several thermal cycles without issue.

Solid performance

Essential for brewing monitoring
I use this to monitor mash temperatures. The response time is fast enough to catch spikes, and the digital output eliminates the noise issues I had with analog sensors. Very happy with this purchase.

Good accuracy, easy wiring
Setup was straightforward using existing libraries. The accuracy is quite good for the price point. I deducted one star because the pin headers were not included, so I had to solder them myself.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins?
A: Yes, it is compatible. Since it uses the SPI protocol, you can connect it to the Raspberry Pi's SPI pins. Please ensure you use level shifting if your Pi operates strictly at 3.3V and you require 5V logic stability, though many users report success direct connection.
Q: Can I use this with a Type J or Type T thermocouple?
A: No, this module is specifically calibrated for Type K thermocouples. Using other thermocouple types will result in inaccurate temperature readings. We do sell modules for other types in separate listings.
Q: Does the board have mounting holes?
A: Yes, the PCB features four 3mm mounting holes in the corners, making it easy to secure the module inside an enclosure or project box using standard standoffs.
Q: What is the maximum update rate for temperature readings?
A: The MAX31855 typically converts temperature data in about 100ms, allowing for an update rate of approximately 10Hz. This is sufficient for most heating and cooling monitoring applications.
Q: Does this module come with a thermocouple probe included?
A: No, this listing is for the converter module only. You will need to purchase a Type K thermocouple probe with a miniature connector separately.
