Good sensitivity, requires careful install
The sensor itself is very responsive and handles 360-degree movement well. I deducted one star because the pins are quite small and require a steady hand to solder without bridging connections.

Professional grade component
I use these for repair jobs frequently. The voltage compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V systems makes it versatile for different BlackBerry models. No dead zones detected in testing.

Perfect replacement for my old Curve
This module brought my BlackBerry Curve back to life. The tracking is smooth and the four-way button clicks feel just like the original part. Installation was straightforward for anyone with basic soldering skills.
Q: Does this come with the actual ball or just the sensor housing?
A: This package includes the sensor module and the internal mechanism. You will need to transfer your existing trackball cap or purchase a separate ball if yours is damaged.
Q: Do I need to change any resistors for the 5V operation?
A: No, the module features dual voltage support internally. You can connect it directly to either 3.3V or 5V lines without modifying external components.
Q: Is this compatible with the BlackBerry Pearl 8100?
A: Yes, this module is designed to be compatible with the Pearl 8100 series, provided your device uses the standard optical trackball interface.
Q: What tools are recommended for installation?
A: We recommend using a fine-tip soldering iron, tweezers, and isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the contact pads before installation.
Q: How do I know if my old sensor is completely dead?
A: If the cursor does not move in any direction despite cleaning the lens and ball, and the center click still works, the optical sensor likely needs replacement.
