Great value, easy to use
As a beginner, I was worried about wiring these up, but the pinout is standard and easy to understand. Works perfectly with my Arduino Uno. Only giving 4 stars because the included headers weren't pre-soldered.

Good sensor, watch the sunlight
Works great indoors. Just note that direct sunlight can interfere with the IR signal, which is typical for this technology. For indoor robots or shaded outdoor use, it's fantastic.

Exceeded expectations

Perfect for my line follower robot
These sensors are incredibly responsive. I used a pair of them for a line-following project, and the adjustable potentiometer made calibration a breeze. The detection range is accurate within the specified limits.

Reliable obstacle avoidance
We bought ten of these for a university workshop. Every single unit worked out of the box. The black-white line detection feature is also quite sensitive, making it versatile for multiple types of projects.

Compact and effective
The small form factor fits perfectly on my custom PCB design. The IR emission is strong enough to detect obstacles reliably even in moderately lit rooms. Highly recommended for hobbyists.
Q: Is there a library available for Python on Raspberry Pi?
A: Since this module outputs a simple digital high/low signal, you do not need a specific library. You can read the state using standard GPIO libraries like RPi.GPIO or gpiozero by setting the pin to input mode.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to turn it clockwise to increase the detection range or counter-clockwise to decrease it. Test with an object while adjusting.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for this module?
A: The module typically draws around 20mA to 30mA when the IR LED is active and an obstacle is detected. Please ensure your microcontroller pin can supply this current or use an external power source.
Q: Can this sensor detect clear glass or transparent objects?
A: Infrared sensors generally struggle with transparent objects like clear glass because the IR light passes through rather than reflecting back. It works best on opaque surfaces.
Q: Can I connect this directly to a 3.3V logic system like ESP32?
