Solid performance for the price
Good consistent readings across all 5 channels. I appreciated the separate LED indicators for each sensor, which made debugging my logic much easier. Just ensure you provide a stable 5V supply to get the best range.

Exceeded expectations
I've tried single and dual channel sensors before, but the 5-channel layout provides much smoother turning corrections for my robot car. The transition between lines is seamless. Delivery was fast and packaging protected the PCB well.

Great value, minor wiring confusion
Works exactly as described for line following. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the pinout diagram on the back was slightly faded, but I found the datasheet online easily. Once connected, it tracks lines smoothly even at moderate speeds.

Perfect for my sumo bot project
The sensitivity on this 5-channel module is excellent. I was able to calibrate it quickly using the potentiometers to detect black tape on a white floor without any false positives. The digital output makes interfacing with my Arduino Uno very straightforward.

Reliable obstacle avoidance too
While primarily bought for line tracking, I tested the outer sensors for obstacle avoidance and they work surprisingly well for close-range detection. The infrared emitters are bright enough to handle indoor lighting conditions without interference.

High sensitivity and fast response
We used these in a classroom setting for a robotics competition. All five channels responded instantly to line changes. The build quality is solid, and the mounting holes made it easy to secure onto our chassis. Highly recommended for educational kits.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity if the sensor detects the line from too far away?
A: Locate the small blue potentiometers on the board corresponding to each channel. Turn them counter-clockwise gently while testing until the detection range reduces to your desired distance (typically 2-5mm above the line).
Q: Does this come with connecting wires or a header strip?
A: The module comes with the PCB and onboard components. Pin headers are usually pre-soldered, but connecting jumper wires are not included in the package and should be purchased separately based on your setup needs.
Q: What is the maximum speed a robot can travel while still tracking the line accurately?
A: The maximum speed depends on your microcontroller's processing speed and the height of the sensor from the ground. Typically, users report reliable tracking at speeds up to 0.5 meters per second with optimal calibration and a 10-15mm mounting height.
Q: Is there a library available for Arduino to read all 5 channels at once?
A: There is no single dedicated library required. You simply read the 5 digital output pins using standard digitalRead() functions. Many open-source line-following algorithms on GitHub are compatible with this 5-pin configuration.
Q: Can this sensor module work outdoors in direct sunlight?
A: Infrared sensors can be affected by strong direct sunlight due to ambient IR noise. For best results, we recommend using this module indoors or providing a physical shield to block direct sun from hitting the sensor array.
