Perfect for my Arduino line follower
These sensors work exactly as described. The sensitivity potentiometer makes it very easy to calibrate for different surface colors. I used four of them on my smart car project and the line tracking is smooth and responsive.

Solid performance
The build quality is decent for the price point. The soldering pads are large enough for easy wiring. One unit out of five had a slightly loose potentiometer, but it still functioned after tightening.

Essential for beginner robotics
I bought this for a university project. The documentation online is plentiful, and the module is very forgiving for beginners. The output is clean digital logic which interfaces easily with microcontrollers.

Fast shipping and works great
Arrived quickly and well-packaged. I tested them immediately on a black tape line against a white floor, and the response time was instant. No lag detected in the robot's movement.

Reliable obstacle detection
While marketed for line tracking, I found these excellent for short-range obstacle avoidance too. The detection range is adjustable up to about 25cm depending on the object's reflectivity. Highly recommended.

Good value but needs careful calibration
Great price for a pack of these modules. They are sensitive to ambient light, so you need to shield them or calibrate them in the environment where the robot will operate. Once set up, they are reliable.
Q: Does this come with mounting screws?
A: The package typically includes the sensor module and jumper wires. Mounting screws are not included, but the 3mm holes fit standard M3 screws commonly available in electronics kits.
Q: Can this sensor detect clear glass objects?
A: Infrared sensors rely on reflection. Clear glass may allow IR light to pass through rather than reflecting it, making detection unreliable. It works best on opaque objects.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins?
A: Yes, it is compatible. However, ensure you configure the GPIO correctly for digital input. Since the module operates at 3.3V-5V, it matches the Pi's logic levels safely.
Q: Can I use this outdoors in direct sunlight?
A: Direct sunlight contains strong infrared radiation which can interfere with the sensor's reading. For outdoor use, we recommend adding a physical shield or tube around the sensor.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (longer distance) and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Use a small screwdriver for adjustment.
