Perfect for my robot car project
This sensor works exactly as described. The detection range is easily adjustable with the potentiometer on the back. I used it for obstacle avoidance on an Arduino-based robot, and the response time is incredibly fast. Highly recommended for hobbyists.

Good value but sensitive to sunlight
Great sensor for indoor projects. It detects objects reliably within the stated range. However, I noticed it gets a bit erratic when used near direct sunlight outdoors. For indoor automation or shaded areas, it is excellent.

Solid performance for small automation
Using these on a small conveyor belt setup to count items. They are consistent and haven't failed yet after two weeks of continuous operation. Just ensure your power supply is stable at 5V for best results.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a small blue potentiometer on the back of the sensor module. Use a small screwdriver to turn it clockwise to increase the range or counter-clockwise to decrease it while testing with your target object.
Q: What is the maximum current this sensor can sink?
A: The NPN output can typically sink up to 100mA. However, for driving heavy loads like motors or high-power relays, we recommend using the sensor signal to trigger a transistor or relay module.
Q: Is this compatible with 12V systems?
A: No, this specific model (E18-D80NK) is designed for 5V DC operation only. Connecting it to 12V may damage the internal circuitry. Please use a voltage regulator if your system runs on 12V.
Q: Can this sensor detect black objects effectively?
A: Yes, it can detect black objects, but the detection range may be reduced compared to lighter colored objects due to lower light reflection. You may need to adjust the sensitivity potentiometer to compensate.
