Great value, minor learning curve
The module is very sensitive and reacts quickly. I had to read the datasheet to understand the jumper settings for trigger modes, but once configured, it has been reliable for my automatic light system.

Excellent range adjustment
Being able to adjust both the time delay and sensitivity with the onboard pots is a huge plus. It prevents false triggers from pets while still catching human movement accurately.

Good starter sensor
As a beginner, I found this easy to integrate. There are plenty of tutorials online for this specific module. The only reason for 4 stars is that the documentation included in the box was very brief.

Perfect for my Arduino security project
This PIR sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The detection range is impressive, and the sensitivity potentiometer makes it easy to fine-tune for my specific room size. Setup took less than 10 minutes.

Reliable and consistent
I bought five of these for a robotics class. All of them performed identically. The build quality feels solid, and the screw terminals make wiring secure without needing to solder immediately.
Q: Is there a library required for Arduino?
A: No specific library is needed. The sensor outputs a simple digital HIGH/LOW signal. You can read it using the standard digitalRead() function in your Arduino sketch.
Q: Can this sensor detect motion through glass or thin walls?
A: No, PIR sensors detect infrared radiation emitted by warm bodies. Glass and most solid walls block infrared radiation, so the sensor requires a direct line of sight to detect motion.
Q: How do I change the trigger mode from H to L?
A: There is a small 3-pin header on the PCB with a jumper cap. Moving the jumper cap to the opposite position switches between 'H' (High Level Trigger) and 'L' (Low Level Trigger) modes. Please refer to the silkscreen labeling on the board.
Q: What is the maximum current this pin can source?
A: The output pin is designed for signal logic, not power delivery. It can source a very small current (typically a few milliamps). You should use it to trigger a transistor, relay module, or microcontroller pin, not to drive LEDs or motors directly.
Q: Does this module output 5V or 3.3V logic levels?
A: The output high level is approximately 3.3V, which is safe for direct connection to 3.3V microcontrollers like ESP8266. It is also generally compatible with 5V Arduino boards as a logic high input.
