Great for force feedback
Integrated these into a robotic gripper to measure gripping force. The response time is fast enough for our control loop, and the durability has been impressive over several months of testing.

Good value for stress testing
We deployed these on a steel beam for a university project. They held up well under cyclic loading. The only reason for 4 stars is that the adhesive tabs could be slightly larger for easier handling, but performance is solid.

Excellent stability for load cells
Used these BF350 modules to build a custom kitchen scale load cell. The zero drift is minimal after curing, and the full-bridge configuration simplified the wiring significantly. Highly recommended for DIY instrumentation projects.

Works as described
Straightforward to install if you follow the surface preparation instructions carefully. The resistance matching between the four gauges in the bridge is very tight, which reduces initial offset voltage.
Q: Is a separate amplifier required to read the output?
A: Yes, the output signal from a strain gauge bridge is in millivolts. You will need an instrumentation amplifier, such as the HX711 or INA125, to boost the signal to a level readable by microcontrollers or data acquisition systems.
Q: What is the maximum excitation voltage recommended?
A: For continuous operation, we recommend an excitation voltage between 5V and 10V DC. Short-term measurements can handle up to 15V, but higher voltages may cause self-heating effects that alter accuracy.
Q: Can these be used outdoors in rain?
A: The sensor itself is not waterproof. If used outdoors or in humid environments, you must apply a suitable moisture-proof coating (such as silicone rubber or epoxy) over the installed gauge to protect it from water damage.
Q: Does this module come with adhesive pre-applied?
A: Yes, the BF350 modules typically come with a self-adhesive backing protected by a release film. However, for critical applications, we recommend using additional specialized cyanoacrylate glue for maximum bond strength.
Q: What surface preparation is needed before installation?
A: The mounting surface must be clean, dry, and smooth. We recommend cleaning with isopropyl alcohol, lightly sanding the area to remove oxidation, and degreasing again before peeling the backing and applying the sensor.
