Good value for industrial sensors
Compared to custom-machined load cells, these modules offer a cost-effective solution for distributed sensing. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the solder pads are slightly small for thick gauge wires, so use fine tipped tools.

Excellent stability for structural testing
We used these modules for monitoring rebar deformation in a bridge reinforcement project. The full-bridge configuration significantly reduced thermal drift compared to our previous quarter-bridge setups. Data acquisition was clean and consistent over a 48-hour stress test.

High precision but requires careful installation
The sensor itself is very accurate and responsive to tensile stress changes. However, bonding it to the curved rebar surface required specific adhesive and patience to ensure no air bubbles. Once installed correctly, the readings are spot on.
Q: Can I daisy-chain multiple sensors on one channel?
A: No, each full-bridge sensor should be connected to its own dedicated input channel on your data acquisition system to ensure accurate strain measurement. Parallel connection will invalidate the bridge balance and reading accuracy.
Q: Does this module include temperature compensation?
A: Yes, the full-bridge configuration provides inherent temperature compensation for uniform temperature changes across the gauge. For extreme gradients, additional software compensation using a separate temperature probe may be beneficial.
Q: Is there a protective coating included for corrosion resistance?
A: The module comes with a standard polyimide backing which offers basic moisture resistance. For harsh outdoor environments or long-term burial, we advise applying an additional layer of specialized silicone sealant or wax after installation.
Q: Can this sensor be embedded directly into wet concrete?
A: While the sensor is designed for monitoring rebar within concrete structures, it should be bonded to the rebar before the concrete is poured. Ensure the bonding adhesive is fully cured and compatible with high-pH environments before embedding.
Q: What is the recommended excitation voltage for maximum linearity?
A: For optimal linearity and minimal self-heating effects, we recommend an excitation voltage of 5V DC. You may go up to 10V if your data acquisition system requires a higher signal-to-noise ratio, provided adequate heat dissipation is ensured.
