Reliable presence detection
Unlike standard PIR sensors, this millimeter-wave radar detects stationary humans effectively. I used it to control my office AC, and it no longer turns off while I'm sitting still at my desk. Highly recommended.

Best in class for 24GHz
I have tested several modules in this category, and the LD2401 offers the best balance of performance and ease of use. The multi-target detection capability is impressive for such a compact module.

Easy integration with ESP32
Connected this directly to an ESP32 using the TX/RX pins. The protocol is straightforward, and the data output is consistent. The ability to update firmware over Bluetooth is a nice bonus feature.

Compact and powerful
Very small footprint which fits perfectly inside my custom switch boxes. Detection range is accurate as advertised. Only giving 4 stars because the antenna orientation matters quite a bit for optimal performance.

Great value but needs careful calibration
The hardware quality is solid for the price. Initially, it had some false positives near a vibrating fan, but after tweaking the sensitivity parameters via UART, it works flawlessly. Documentation could be slightly more detailed.

Perfect for Smart Home Automation
This sensor is incredibly sensitive and accurately detects even subtle movements like breathing. The Bluetooth configuration app made setting up detection zones a breeze. Integrated it into my living room lighting system successfully.

A: This product is sold as a bare PCB module intended for integration into other devices or enclosures. It does not include a plastic housing, but the pin headers are pre-soldered for easy prototyping.
Q: Is there a Python library available for parsing the UART data?
A: Yes, the community has developed several open-source Python libraries for parsing LD2401 data streams. You can find them on GitHub by searching for 'LD2401 Python'. We also provide a basic protocol document in the download section.
Q: Can this sensor detect people through a thin wooden door?
A: While millimeter-wave radar can penetrate non-metallic materials to some extent, performance depends on material thickness and density. For reliable operation, we recommend line-of-sight installation or mounting where the signal does not need to pass through solid obstacles.
Q: What is the maximum number of targets this module can track simultaneously?
A: The LD2401 can typically distinguish and track up to 3 separate moving targets within its field of view, depending on their separation distance and the configured sensitivity settings.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 5V Arduino pin?
A: No, the module operates at 3.3V. Connecting it directly to a 5V source may damage the sensor. Please use a 3.3V regulator or a logic level converter if your microcontroller operates at 5V.
