Good value for money
For the price point, the performance is outstanding. It handles through-plastic detection well, so I could mount it inside a junction box. Deducting one star because the default firmware settings are a bit too aggressive out of the box.

Perfect for smart home presence detection
This sensor is incredibly sensitive. It detects my breathing even when I am sitting completely still reading a book, which solved the issue of lights turning off automatically in my office. The UART interface was easy to connect to my ESP32.

Superior to standard PIR sensors
Unlike traditional PIR sensors that only detect gross motion, this millimeter wave radar picks up micro-movements. I used it for a bedroom automation project, and it never fails to detect occupancy. Highly recommended for advanced projects.

Great range, needs calibration
The 8-meter range claim is accurate in open spaces. However, you need to spend time configuring the sensitivity thresholds via the serial tool to avoid false positives from ceiling fans. Once tuned, it works flawlessly.

Reliable and compact
The form factor is tiny, making it easy to hide behind fixtures. The documentation provided by Hi-Link is decent, and the community support helps with integration into Home Assistant. No issues after 3 months of continuous operation.
Q: Can this sensor detect humans through a thin wooden door?
A: Yes, the 24GHz millimeter wave can penetrate non-metallic materials like wood, plastic, and drywall to some extent. However, detection range and sensitivity will be reduced depending on the thickness and density of the material.
Q: Does this module come with an antenna included?
A: Yes, the module comes with a built-in PCB antenna. You do not need to purchase or attach an external antenna for standard operation.
Q: Is there a Python library available for parsing the UART data?
A: Hi-Link does not provide an official Python library, but the communication protocol is documented in the datasheet. Many users have created open-source parsers for Python and Node-RED which you can find on GitHub.
Q: Can I adjust the detection distance via software?
