Solid performance for academic projects
We used several of these for our final year project. They are robust and provide steady heading data. One unit had a slight drift, but support replaced it quickly.

Easy to interface with Arduino

Compact and powerful
The form factor is perfect for space-constrained designs. The 3D magnetic field data is accurate, and the tilt compensation algorithm saves a lot of processing time on the MCU.

Reliable in vehicle environments

Excellent stability for rover projects
Integrated this into my autonomous rover and the tilt compensation works flawlessly even on uneven terrain. The data output is consistent and easy to parse via UART.

Good value but requires careful calibration
The sensor performs well once calibrated properly. Make sure to follow the calibration routine strictly to get the best accuracy. Great for the price point.
Q: Can this operate at 12V directly?
A: No, the operating voltage range is 3.3V to 5.0V. You must use a voltage regulator or step-down module if your power source is 12V to avoid damaging the sensor.
Q: Is the casing waterproof for outdoor vehicle use?
A: The standard module is not fully waterproof but is conformal coated for moisture resistance. For heavy rain exposure, we recommend adding an external waterproof enclosure.
Q: What is the refresh rate for the heading data?
A: The default update rate is 10Hz, but it can be configured up to 50Hz via the configuration command set included in the user manual.
Q: Does it come with a mounting bracket?
A: Yes, the package includes a small plastic mounting bracket and four screws. The PCB also has four M2 mounting holes for custom integration.
Q: Does this module require an external magnetometer calibration tool?
A: No, the module supports self-calibration routines that can be triggered via serial commands. However, performing calibration in a magnetically clean environment is recommended for best results.
