Perfect for Arduino robotics projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The range is accurate up to about 3 meters in my testing, which is perfect for my obstacle-avoiding robot. Setup was incredibly easy with standard libraries.

Great value, minor noise issues
For the price, you can't beat this module. It works well for general distance measurement. I did notice some jitter in readings when used near a noisy motor, but adding a simple capacitor fixed it.

Good accuracy within spec
The sensor performs exactly as described in the datasheet. Just remember that soft surfaces like fabric absorb sound waves and might give inconsistent results, but that's physics, not a defect.

Bought 10 for our workshop
We purchased a bulk pack for our high school makerspace. All units arrived functional and consistent. Students find them very easy to integrate into their final projects involving automated carts.
Q: Does this come with jumper wires?
A: This listing is for the sensor module only. Jumper wires are not included, but any standard male-to-male jumper wires will work perfectly with the 0.1-inch pin spacing.
Q: What is the minimum voltage required to operate this module?
A: The module operates at DC 5V. While it might function at slightly lower voltages like 3.3V, the readings may become unstable. We recommend using a stable 5V power source for best results.
Q: Is this compatible with 3.3V logic boards like ESP32?
A: Yes, but with a caveat. The VCC should be 5V, but the Echo pin outputs 5V logic which can damage 3.3V GPIO pins. You must use a voltage divider or a logic level converter on the Echo pin when connecting to 3.3V boards.
Q: How do I handle the blind zone at the front of the sensor?
A: The HC-SR04 has a blind zone of approximately 2cm where it cannot detect objects. In your code, you should ignore any readings below 2cm or implement a delay before taking the next measurement to allow echoes to dissipate.
Q: Can this sensor measure distances underwater?
A: No, the HC-SR04 is designed for use in air only. Ultrasonic waves behave differently in water, and this module is not waterproof or calibrated for liquid environments.
