Good sensor, read the datasheet
Works well once you understand the jumper settings for L and H trigger modes. Initially, I thought it was faulty because the delay wasn't working as expected, but I had the jumper on the wrong setting. Once fixed, it's very reliable.

Perfect for Arduino Projects

Great learning component
My first time using a PIR sensor. The documentation online is plentiful, which helped me get started quickly. The only reason for 4 stars is that the pins are a bit close together for thick jumper wires, but it works fine with standard headers.
Q: Is this compatible with 5V logic boards like standard Arduino?
A: Yes, the module operates on DC 4.5V-20V, and the output high level is approximately 3.3V, which is sufficient to be read as a HIGH signal by 5V microcontrollers like the Arduino Uno.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity?
A: There is a potentiometer labeled 'S' on the board. Turning it clockwise increases the detection distance, while turning it counter-clockwise decreases it. Use a small screwdriver to make adjustments while testing.
Q: What is the difference between L and H trigger modes?
A: In 'H' (High) mode, the output stays high as long as motion is detected continuously. In 'L' (Low) mode, once motion is detected, the output goes high for the set delay time regardless of whether motion continues, effectively ignoring new triggers during that delay period.
Q: Can this sensor detect motion through glass?
A: No, PIR sensors generally cannot detect infrared radiation through glass as standard window glass blocks IR waves. The sensor needs a direct line of sight or an opening to detect motion effectively.
Q: Does this come with a lens cover?
A: The module comes with the standard white Fresnel lens dome pre-installed. This lens focuses the infrared energy onto the sensor element. No additional covers are included or required for standard operation.
