Great for beginners
As someone new to electronics, this was easy to wire up. Just VCC, GND, and OUT. It reacted instantly to movement. I deducted one star only because the pins were slightly bent upon arrival, but I fixed them easily.

Standard PIR, works as expected
If you need a standard HC-SR501, this is it. No surprises, just solid performance. The delay time potentiometer allows for precise control over how long the output stays high.

Perfect for Arduino Projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The sensitivity adjustment is very responsive, and I was able to detect motion across my living room easily. Great value for the price.

Excellent build quality
The PCB looks clean and the soldering points are solid. I've been running this continuously for two weeks on a Raspberry Pi project without any false triggers or failures. Highly recommended.

Good sensor, instructions could be better
The module itself is high quality and detects motion reliably. However, the diagram on the back is a bit small. Once I figured out the jumper settings for the trigger mode, it worked perfectly for my automatic light project.

Reliable and Sensitive
I bought five of these for a home security prototype. All of them functioned immediately out of the box. The detection range is impressive, easily hitting the 6-7 meter mark in optimal conditions.
Q: Does this come with a lens cover?
A: Yes, the module comes with a white, dome-shaped Fresnel lens already installed. This lens focuses the infrared radiation onto the sensor element.
Q: What is the difference between H and L trigger modes?
A: In 'H' (High) mode, the sensor keeps the output high as long as motion is detected continuously. In 'L' (Low) mode, the sensor outputs a single high pulse for the set delay time regardless of continued motion during that period.
Q: Can I adjust the detection distance?
A: Yes, there is a potentiometer labeled 'Distance' on the board. Turning it clockwise generally increases the sensitivity and detection range, while counter-clockwise decreases it.
Q: Can this sensor work directly with a 5V Arduino?
A: Yes, the HC-SR501 operates between 4.5V and 20V, so it is fully compatible with 5V Arduino boards. The output signal is 3.3V TTL, which is safe for Arduino input pins.
Q: Is this suitable for outdoor use?
A: The module itself is not waterproof. For outdoor use, you must house it in a waterproof enclosure. Also, ensure the lens is protected from direct rain and extreme temperature fluctuations.
