Compact and powerful
The form factor is tiny, which fits perfectly into my wearable prototype. The infrared sensing works well without being intrusive. Documentation could be better, but community examples helped.

Best gesture sensor in this price range
I've tried a few different modules, and this PAJ7620U2 is by far the most reliable. It handles complex gestures like clockwise and counter-clockwise rotations very accurately.

Great value, minor calibration needed
Good sensor for the price. I had to tweak the sensitivity settings in the code to stop it from triggering false positives, but once calibrated, it recognizes all 9 gestures reliably.

Perfect for DIY Home Automation
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino project. The gesture recognition is surprisingly accurate even in low light conditions. Setup was easy using the provided library.

Excellent response time
We used these in a student workshop for interactive displays. The response time is very fast, and the I2C interface makes wiring simple. Highly recommended for educational projects.

Solid performance on ESP32
Integrated this with an ESP32 board without issues. The gesture detection is consistent. Just ensure you have pull-up resistors on the SDA and SCL lines if your board doesn't have them built-in.
Q: Is 5V logic safe for the I2C pins?
A: The module includes voltage regulation, so it can be powered by 5V. However, for the I2C data lines, we recommend using a 3.3V logic level or a level shifter if your microcontroller does not support 5V tolerant inputs.
Q: Can this sensor work through glass or plastic covers?
A: It can work through thin transparent materials, but thick or opaque covers will block the infrared light and prevent gesture detection. We recommend testing with your specific enclosure material.
Q: Does it support custom gesture training?
A: No, the PAJ7620U2 comes with 9 pre-defined gestures hardcoded in its firmware. It does not currently support user-defined custom gesture training.
Q: What is the maximum distance for reliable gesture detection?
A: The optimal detection range is between 1cm and 15cm. Beyond 15cm, the accuracy may decrease significantly depending on ambient light conditions.
Q: Does this module come with a library for Arduino?
A: Yes, there are several open-source libraries available on GitHub specifically for the PAJ7620U2 that work seamlessly with the Arduino IDE.
