Perfect for Classroom Projects

Solid build quality

Fantastic learning tool

My daughter used this to learn how analog sensors work. Being able to see the numbers change in the serial monitor as she waved her hand over it was a great 'aha!' moment. Durable enough to handle curious kids.

Great value, sensitive detection

Very responsive to changes in light. My son used it to make a night-light that turns on automatically when the room gets dark. The only reason for 4 stars is that the included documentation was a bit sparse, but we found plenty of tutorials online.

Easy for beginners

Good for prototyping

Works exactly as described. It's not industrial grade, but for educational purposes and rapid prototyping, it is excellent. The response time is fast enough for most line-following or light-tracking applications.

Q: What is the maximum distance it can detect a light source?

A: This is an ambient light sensor, not a proximity sensor. It measures the intensity of light falling directly on the photoresistor rather than detecting a specific light source at a distance. Performance depends on the brightness of the environment.

Q: Is there a digital output pin available on this board?

A: This specific model provides an analog output (AO) which gives a continuous range of values based on light intensity. It does not have a built-in comparator for a digital output (DO), but you can easily set a threshold in your code.

Q: Can this be used with a 3.3V microcontroller like the ESP32?

A: Yes, absolutely. The operating voltage range is 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic boards like the ESP32, ESP8266, and 3.3V Arduino variants.
