Easy to wire up
As a beginner, I found the three-wire setup (VCC, GND, OUT) very easy to understand. Connected it directly to my microcontroller without any extra components. Just remember it's NPN output.

Good sensor, needs calibration
Works well once you tune the sensitivity. Out of the box, it was detecting things too far away for my specific application, but a quick turn of the screw fixed it. Solid build quality.

Exceeded expectations
For such a low cost, the build quality is surprising. The wires are thick enough, and the sensor housing feels durable. It has been running continuously for a week in my automation setup without issues.

Perfect for my robot car project
This sensor works exactly as described. The detection range is easily adjustable with the potentiometer on the back. I set it to about 20cm for my obstacle avoidance robot, and it responds instantly. Great value for the price.

Reliable and cheap
Bought five of these for a classroom project. All of them worked perfectly. The infrared beam is strong enough to detect dark objects if you adjust the sensitivity correctly. Highly recommended for students.

Great range adjustment
The ability to adjust from 3cm all the way to 80cm is very useful. I use one for a automatic door prototype and another for a line follower. Consistent performance across different lighting conditions.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a small blue potentiometer (screw) on the back of the module. Turn it clockwise to increase the detection distance and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Use an object to test the range while adjusting.
Q: What is the maximum current this sensor can switch?
A: The maximum load current is 100mA. If you need to control a device that draws more current, such as a motor or a bright LED strip, please use a relay or a transistor module between the sensor and the load.
Q: Can this detect black objects?
A: Yes, but black objects absorb more infrared light, which reduces the effective detection distance. You may need to increase the sensitivity using the onboard potentiometer to detect dark surfaces reliably at the same range as lighter objects.
Q: Does sunlight interfere with the operation?
A: Strong direct sunlight can sometimes interfere with infrared sensors. For outdoor use, we recommend shielding the sensor from direct sun or using a physical tube to narrow the field of view for better stability.
Q: Is this sensor compatible with Arduino Uno?
A: Yes, absolutely. Since it operates on DC 5V-35V and has a standard digital output, you can connect the VCC to 5V, GND to Ground, and the Output pin to any digital input pin on your Arduino.
