Essential for university project
Bought five of these for a group project. All of them worked out of the box. The digital output makes interfacing with microcontrollers like ESP32 or Arduino extremely simple without needing extra code for analog reading.

Reliable and durable
My kids have crashed their robot car countless times, but this sensor keeps working. The IR LED and receiver are well-protected on the board. Highly recommended for beginners.

Fast response time
The reaction time is impressive. My car can take sharp corners without losing the track. The LM393 comparator ensures a clean signal transition between black and white surfaces.

Perfect for my Arduino line follower
This sensor works exactly as described. The sensitivity adjustment potentiometer makes it very easy to calibrate for different lighting conditions. My smart car follows the black tape on the white floor perfectly now.

Works well under normal light
Performance is solid in indoor lighting. I noticed it gets a bit confused under direct sunlight because of IR interference, but that is expected for this type of sensor. Great for indoor use.

Good value, needs careful mounting
The module is responsive and cheap. Just make sure you mount it at the right height; if it's too high, it won't detect the line accurately. Once positioned correctly within 10mm, it works great.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise while testing with your target surface to set the desired sensitivity and detection range.
Q: Do I need to write complex code to use this?
A: No, since it provides a digital output (HIGH or LOW), you only need to read a single digital pin on your microcontroller. No complex analog processing is required.
Q: What is the maximum voltage this module can handle?
A: The module operates safely between 3.3V and 5V DC. Please do not exceed 5V as it may damage the comparator chip or the infrared LED.
Q: Is this suitable for outdoor autonomous vehicles?
A: While it can work outdoors, direct sunlight contains strong infrared radiation which can interfere with the sensor's accuracy. It is best suited for controlled indoor environments or shaded outdoor tracks.
Q: Can this sensor detect lines on a green surface?
A: This sensor is optimized for high contrast differences, specifically black lines on white surfaces or vice versa. It may struggle with low-contrast colors like green unless the shade is very dark or very light relative to the background.
