Perfect for advanced line followers
The 8-channel setup provides incredibly smooth tracking compared to my old 4-channel sensor. The RGB recognition is a nice bonus for sorting tasks.

Exceeded expectations
For the price, you cannot beat the feature set. The ability to distinguish colors adds a whole new dimension to simple line following robots.

Robust and reliable
Used this on a competition robot. It handled sharp turns and varying floor colors without losing the line. Highly recommended for serious projects.

Easy to integrate with Arduino
Plug and play with standard libraries. The grayscale output is very consistent, making PID tuning much easier than expected.

Great value but needs calibration
Works well once you spend time calibrating the thresholds for your specific lighting conditions. Documentation could be slightly better, but overall very happy.

Good sensitivity
The sensors are very sensitive to ambient light changes, so shielding is recommended. Otherwise, the detection range and accuracy are excellent.
Q: Does this module work directly with 5V Arduino boards?
A: Yes, the module operates comfortably within the 3.3V to 5V range, making it fully compatible with standard 5V Arduino boards like the Uno and Mega.
Q: How do I calibrate the RGB color recognition?
A: Calibration is done via software by reading raw values under your specific lighting conditions and setting threshold ranges in your code. A sample calibration sketch is available in our GitHub repository.
Q: What is the maximum speed a robot can travel while still tracking the line accurately?
A: This depends on your robot's processing speed and control loop, but most users report stable tracking at speeds up to 1.5 meters per second on standard tracks.
Q: Can I use this sensor outdoors?
A: While the sensor works outdoors, direct sunlight can interfere with the infrared readings. We recommend using a shield or operating in shaded areas for best results.
Q: Is the cable included in the package?
A: The package includes the sensor module and a set of header pins. Connection wires are not included but can be easily sourced using standard 2.54mm jumper wires.
