Better than expected
I was worried about compatibility with my Curve 8330, but it fit perfectly. The Hall effect technology makes the scrolling incredibly precise compared to the worn-out optical sensors I've tried before.

Perfect fix for my old Bold 9900
My trackball was completely unresponsive, but this sensor module brought it back to life instantly. The installation was straightforward if you have the right tools. It feels just as smooth as the original factory part.

Smooth operation restored
After years of using the touchscreen, I missed the tactile feel of the trackball. This replacement works great. The only minor issue is that the ball itself isn't included, just the sensor module, so make sure you have your original ball.

Essential for repair shops
We use these modules regularly for refurbishing older BlackBerry devices. The failure rate is near zero, and customers are always happy with the restored functionality. Highly recommended for professionals.

Great quality, tricky install
The sensor itself works flawlessly with 360-degree movement. I deducted one star only because the ribbon cable is very delicate and requires a steady hand to connect properly. Once installed, no issues at all.
Q: Can this fix a trackball that only moves up and down?
A: Yes, if your trackball registers movement in only one axis, it is a classic symptom of a failing Hall Effect sensor. Replacing this module should restore full 360-degree omnidirectional functionality.
Q: Is this compatible with the BlackBerry Torch 9800?
A: No, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 utilizes a capacitive touchscreen and does not have a trackball module. This sensor is designed specifically for models like the Bold, Curve, and Pearl series that feature physical trackballs.
Q: Why is my trackball still sticky after replacing the sensor?
A: If the sensor is new but movement is still restricted, the issue is likely debris or lint accumulated around the trackball housing rather than the sensor itself. We recommend thoroughly cleaning the cavity with compressed air and isopropyl alcohol.
Q: What tools are required for installation?
A: You will typically need a small Phillips head screwdriver, a plastic prying tool to open the casing, and tweezers to handle the delicate FPC connector. A soldering iron is usually not required as it connects via a clip.
Q: Does this module include the actual trackball sphere or just the sensor?
A: This package includes only the Hall Effect sensor module and the flexible cable. The physical trackball sphere is not included; you should reuse your original one or purchase it separately.
