Low power consumption as advertised
I am running this on a battery-powered node, and the current draw is minimal. The ability to detect static human presence rather than just motion is a game changer for bathroom lights.

Excellent value for money
For the price point, you cannot beat the performance. It handles multiple targets well and the response time is very fast. I have ordered five more for my whole house project.

Better than PIR sensors
Unlike traditional PIR sensors that miss you if you sit still, this radar module keeps the light on as long as I am in the room. The 24GHz frequency penetrates thin plastic covers nicely too.

Solid build quality
The PCB looks well-made and the antenna trace is clear. Documentation could be slightly more detailed regarding the register map, but the community examples helped me get started quickly.

Perfect for smart lighting projects
This sensor is incredibly sensitive and detects even subtle movements like breathing. Integration with my ESP32 was seamless using the UART interface. Highly recommended for automation enthusiasts.

Great range, needs calibration
The detection range is impressive up to 6 meters in my hallway. It took a little time to tune the sensitivity parameters to avoid false positives from ceiling fans, but once set, it works flawlessly.
Q: Is there a library available for Arduino?
A: Yes, several open-source libraries are available on GitHub specifically for the Ai-Thinker Rd-03L. You can search for 'Rd-03L Arduino' to find community-maintained drivers.
Q: Can this sensor detect people through a wooden door?
A: While 24GHz radar can penetrate some non-metallic materials, detection reliability decreases significantly with thick wood or dense materials. It is best used in line-of-sight or through thin plastic covers.
Q: Does it work outdoors in the rain?
A: The module itself is not waterproof. For outdoor use, it must be housed in an IP65-rated enclosure with a radar-transparent window (like ABS plastic) to protect it from moisture.
Q: What voltage logic levels does the UART interface use?
A: The Rd-03L operates at 3.3V logic levels. If you are connecting to a 5V microcontroller, please use a logic level converter to prevent damage to the module.
Q: What is the maximum baud rate supported?
A: The default configuration usually runs at 115200 bps, but the module supports configurable baud rates via AT commands. Please refer to the datasheet for the full list of supported speeds.
