Good value, requires careful wiring
The sensor itself is excellent, but you need to ensure your electrode connections are very secure to avoid noise. Once I used fresh gel electrodes and secured the wires, the readings became stable. A solid choice for DIY health monitoring prototypes.

Clean Signal Output
I compared this against a more expensive development board and the signal clarity is comparable. The built-in instrumentation amplifier does a great job filtering out common noise. Highly recommended for students and engineers prototyping wearable devices.

Perfect for Arduino Heart Rate Projects
This module works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The signal quality is surprisingly good for the price point. I was able to visualize the ECG waveform on the serial plotter within minutes of connecting it. Great for learning about biopotential measurements.

Excellent educational tool
Used this for a university project on physiological signal processing. It provided reliable data for our algorithms. The small form factor makes it easy to integrate into custom PCB designs or breadboard setups.

Decent but sensitive to movement
The module works well when stationary, but there is significant artifact noise if the subject moves too much. This is expected for single-lead sensors without advanced digital filtering, but worth noting for active wearables. Good for the price though.

Works as described
Arrived quickly and matches the datasheet specifications. The pinout is clearly labeled which made integration easy. Just remember this is a raw sensor module, so you will need to write your own code to process the analog data into meaningful heart rate values.
Q: How do I reduce the 50/60Hz noise in the output?
A: Ensure all three electrodes (RA, LA, RL) have good skin contact. Using high-quality gel electrodes helps significantly. Additionally, keeping wires short and away from power sources, along with implementing a software notch filter, can further reduce mains interference.
Q: What is the sampling rate capability of this sensor?
A: The sampling rate depends on your microcontroller and code implementation. The AD8232 chip itself supports bandwidths suitable for ECG signals (typically 0.5Hz to 40Hz), and users commonly sample between 100Hz and 500Hz for accurate reconstruction.
Q: Does this module come with the electrode pads and cables?
A: No, this listing includes only the AD8232 sensor module and header pins. Electrode pads and lead wires must be purchased separately to complete your setup.
Q: Can this be used for medical diagnosis?
A: No, this module is intended for hobbyist, educational, and fitness prototyping purposes only. It is not certified for clinical use or medical diagnosis. Please consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, it is compatible. Since the module outputs an analog signal, you will need an external ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) like the MCP3008 to interface it with the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins.
