Great for learning electronics
Bought this for a university project on power monitoring. The documentation online is plentiful, and the module itself is robust. Highly recommend for students.

Essential for my solar setup
I am using the 20A version to monitor my small solar panel output. It handles the current without heating up and provides consistent data to my ESP32 controller.

Compact and reliable
Fits perfectly into my robot chassis. The isolation provided by the Hall effect is a huge plus for safety. Only wish the screw terminals were slightly larger for thicker wires.

Good value but needs filtering
The sensor is accurate enough for general purposes. I noticed some noise in the output, so I added a simple capacitor filter which solved the issue. For the price, it's a solid choice.
Q: Can this module measure AC current as well as DC?
A: Yes, the ACS712 and ACS724 sensors can measure both AC and DC current. The output voltage will center around VCC/2 for zero current and vary proportionally for both directions.
Q: Do I need an external library to use this with Arduino?
A: No external library is strictly required. You can read the analog pin directly and apply the sensitivity formula in your code. However, many community-made libraries exist to simplify averaging and calibration.
Q: What is the maximum voltage isolation rating?
A: The sensor provides galvanic isolation between the current path and the signal pins. While specific breakdown voltage varies by batch, it is generally suitable for low-voltage DIY applications up to a few hundred volts safely, but always check the specific datasheet for your safety margins.
Q: Which range should I choose for a 12V car battery monitor?
A: For typical automotive accessories, the 20A or 30A version is usually best. If you are only monitoring lights or small electronics, 20A is sufficient. For starter motors or high-draw systems, consider the 30A or a higher capacity sensor.
Q: Is the output linear across the entire range?
A: Yes, the output is ratiometric and linear within the specified current range. Ensure you do not exceed the maximum current rating to maintain linearity and prevent damage to the sensor.
