Classic French Quality
This is the rosin I grew up using at conservatory. The fine dust formula grips the bow hair perfectly without being too sticky. Great for both my violin and my student's cello.

Good value, messy application
The sound quality is excellent and warm. However, because it is a fine dust formula, it does create a bit more cleanup on the instrument body compared to hard cakes. Still worth it for the tone.

Great for cellos
My cello teacher recommended this specific brand. It provides enough friction for the lower strings without sounding scratchy. The tin lasts a very long time.

Standard for a reason
You cannot go wrong with P. Guillaume. It produces a clear, resonant sound immediately. The tin packaging keeps the powder contained when not in use.

Smooth and consistent
Switched from a dark rosin to this light fine dust version. The difference in clarity on the E-string of my violin is noticeable. Highly recommended for classical players.

Perfect for humid climates
I live in a very humid area where other rosins become slippery. This Guillaume tin rosin maintains its grip beautifully throughout long practice sessions.
Q: Does the tin come with a protective liner?
A: Yes, the metal tin includes an internal paper or fabric liner to prevent the rosin from sticking to the metal and to keep the powder contained.
Q: Is this product hypoallergenic?
A: This rosin is made from natural tree resin. While pure, individuals with specific sensitivities to colophony should test a small amount first or consult with a medical professional.
Q: Is this rosin suitable for a double bass?
A: While primarily marketed for violin, viola, and cello, some bassists use it for a lighter touch. However, we generally recommend a dedicated bass rosin for optimal grip on thicker strings.
Q: What is the shelf life of this rosin?
A: Rosin does not expire in the traditional sense. As long as it is kept in the sealed tin away from extreme heat or direct sunlight, it will remain effective indefinitely.
Q: How do I apply the fine dust formula?
A: You can gently rub the bow hair directly onto the rosin surface in the tin, or use a soft cloth to pick up some dust and wipe it onto the bow hair for a more controlled application.
