Compact and effective
I love how collapsible this is. I take it on photo walks to scan film on location if I find an interesting texture to shoot through. The plastic feels sturdy enough to last for years.

Solid performance for 35mm
Works exceptionally well with 135 film strips. The masking frames are precise. I deducted one star only because the spring clips on the 120 holder feel a bit tight initially, though they loosened up with use.

Perfect for archiving family albums
I have boxes of old negatives from my parents' travels. This duplicator made the digitization process so much faster than using a flatbed scanner. The images are sharp and the colors are vibrant when paired with a good light source.

Great value, minor learning curve
The build quality is surprisingly good for the price. It took me a few tries to get the focus perfectly aligned with my macro lens, but once set up, it works like a charm. Highly recommend for hobbyists.

Good but requires extra equipment
The duplicator itself works well, but beginners should know you need a macro lens and a separate light tablet to make it function. The product description could be clearer about these requirements.

Essential tool for film photographers
As a wedding photographer who still shoots film for personal projects, this device is a lifesaver. The 120 format holder keeps the film perfectly flat, eliminating those annoying Newton rings I used to get.
Q: Does this come with a light source included?
A: No, the duplicator is designed to be used with a separate LED light tablet or light box, which allows you to choose the brightness and color temperature that best suits your workflow.
Q: How do I clean the plastic masks if they get dusty?
A: We recommend using a soft microfiber cloth and a gentle air blower to remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or alcohol on the plastic masks as this may cause clouding or damage over time.
Q: What is the maximum resolution this can handle?
A: The resolution depends entirely on the camera sensor and lens you attach to the duplicator, not the duplicator itself. With a high-resolution mirrorless camera and a dedicated macro lens, you can easily achieve 20MP+ scans.
Q: Is the 120 mask compatible with 220 film?
A: Generally, yes. Since 120 and 220 films share the same width, the mask fits. However, because 220 film lacks the backing paper thickness of 120, you may need to add a thin spacer to ensure the film sits at the correct focal plane.
Q: Can I use this with a smartphone camera instead of a DSLR?
A: Yes, many users successfully use smartphones with this duplicator. You will need a smartphone mount adapter that attaches to the tripod thread, and a camera app that allows manual focus control for best results.
