Excellent SDK documentation

Great hardware, setup requires some tech knowledge
The device itself is solid and captures audio perfectly. However, if you aren't familiar with installing drivers or configuring USB devices, you might need IT support. Once set up, it runs silently in the background.

Works well but software is basic
The hardware does exactly what it says. The included basic software is functional but nothing fancy. If you want advanced features, you really need to use the API to build your own tool, which was more work than I expected.
Q: Does it require an external power adapter?
A: No, the Zipei Telephone Recording Box is bus-powered via the USB connection to your PC. You do not need a separate power outlet or adapter.
Q: Does this device work with VoIP phones or only analog landlines?
A: This specific model is designed for analog landline connections. It connects between the wall jack and your telephone handset. It is not compatible directly with pure VoIP systems without an analog telephone adapter (ATA).
Q: Is the SDK compatible with Python and C#?
A: Yes, the provided SDK supports secondary development in multiple languages, including C#, VB.NET, and Python (via wrapper libraries). Detailed examples are included in the developer documentation folder on the installation CD.
Q: What is the maximum file size for a single recording?
A: The file size depends on your software configuration and hard drive space. The hardware itself streams data continuously; however, our reference software typically splits files every 60 minutes or when a call ends to manage file sizes efficiently.
Q: Can I record both sides of the conversation clearly?
A: Absolutely. The device captures both the incoming and outgoing audio streams directly from the line, ensuring both parties are recorded with high clarity without needing an external microphone.
