Great tone, tricky install
The sound quality is fantastic, especially the EQ controls which are very responsive. However, the cavity on my bass was a bit tight, and I had to do some minor routing to fit the preamp box. Worth the effort though.

Best value upgrade
For the price, you cannot beat this set. It competes with major brands costing twice as much. The installation instructions were clear, and the pre-wired harness saved me hours of soldering.

Silent and powerful
One of the quietest active systems I have used. No hum or buzz even with high gain amps. The 2-band EQ is simple but effective; you don't need complex controls to get a pro sound.

Perfect for rock and funk
I needed more growl for my funk band and more sustain for rock ballads. This pickup set delivers both effortlessly. The passive mode retains a nice vintage warmth when I turn the active circuit off.

Huge upgrade for my old bass
Installed these on my 15-year-old starter bass and it sounds like a completely different instrument. The active mode adds so much clarity and punch. The switch is very convenient for gigging when the battery dies.

Good but battery drain is fast
Sound is great, but I feel like I'm changing the 9V battery every three weeks even with moderate use. Make sure to unplug your cable when not playing to save power. Otherwise, solid pickups.
Q: Will this fit a standard Jazz Bass routing?
A: Yes, this set is designed to fit standard Jazz Bass pickup routes and control cavities without modification in most cases.
Q: What happens if the battery dies during a gig?
A: You can simply flip the active/passive switch to passive mode. The bass will still work, though you will lose the EQ boost and cut capabilities until the battery is replaced.
Q: Are the pots included in the box?
A: Yes, the set comes with pre-installed 25k ohm potentiometers for volume, balance, bass, and treble, ready for direct installation.
Q: Can I use this on a 5-string bass?
A: Absolutely. The magnetic field and pole pieces are wide enough to cover all strings on both 4-string and 5-string electric basses.
Q: Does the kit include the 9V battery clip?
A: Yes, the package includes a new 9V battery clip attached to the preamp harness, but the battery itself is not included.
