Good, but maybe too closed for me
I tried the AL3 expecting a brighter sound, but it felt a bit too resistant for my style. It is well-made and authentic, just not the right fit for my embouchure. Returning to try an open tip model.

The Gold Standard for Alto Sax
I have been playing the Vandoren A45 for over a decade. It offers a perfect balance between resistance and freedom. The tone is warm yet projects beautifully in a big band setting. Highly recommended for serious players.

Great sound, needs breaking in
Bought the A28 model for my student. The sound is classic Vandoren, very focused. It felt a bit stiff at first but opened up nicely after a week of playing. Good value for a French import.

Authentic French Quality
You can tell the difference between this and cheaper copies immediately. The facing curve is precise, and the response in the altissimo register is smooth. Worth every penny.

Nice upgrade from stock mouthpiece
My sax came with a generic plastic mouthpiece. Switching to this Vandoren made a huge difference in tone quality. It was easier to produce a full sound even as a beginner.

A: No, this product is specifically designed for the Alto Saxophone. The bore size and curvature will not fit a Tenor Saxophone correctly. Please ensure you select the correct instrument size.
Q: How can I verify if this is a genuine France import?
A: Genuine Vandoren mouthpieces feature the Vandoren logo, the model number, and 'France' stamped clearly on the shank. They also come in the signature blue box with a holographic sticker.
Q: What is the difference between the A45 and the AL3?
A: The main difference is the tip opening and facing length. The A45 has a medium-open tip suitable for jazz and classical versatility, while the AL3 has a more closed tip designed for classical precision and control.
Q: Which tip opening is best for a beginner on alto sax?
A: For beginners, we typically recommend the A28 or A35 models. They offer a slightly more closed tip which provides better control and easier response while learning embouchure stability.
