Good value for money

For the price, this is an excellent inkstone. The interior is smooth and easy to clean. I deducted one star because the lid was slightly loose upon arrival, but it settled after a few uses.

Great quality, slightly heavy

The ceramic feels very premium and sturdy. It is a bit heavier than I expected, which actually helps it stay put on the desk. The black glaze is elegant.

A: No, we do not recommend microwaving this inkstone. Sudden temperature changes can crack the ceramic, and heating ink is generally not required for standard use.

Q: Is this inkstone suitable for liquid ink or solid ink sticks?

A: This inkstone is primarily designed for holding liquid ink. While the surface is smooth, it is not textured for grinding solid ink sticks.

Q: Can the lid be used as a separate palette?

A: The lid is designed to fit securely on the box to prevent evaporation. While flat, we recommend using it only as a cover to maintain the seal.

Q: Does the brush rest accommodate thick sumi-e brushes?

A: Yes, the curved groove on the side is designed to hold various brush sizes, including thicker sumi-e brushes, securely without rolling.
