Great quality, heavy duty
The stone is very heavy and feels solid. The grinding texture is just right for traditional ink sticks. Only giving 4 stars because the protective box had a small dent, but the stone itself is flawless.

Beautiful natural patterns
Not only does it function well, but the natural grey veins on the stone are beautiful. It looks great on my study desk. The raw surface requires a bit of breaking in, but then it works perfectly.

Good grind, needs cleaning
The ink grinds very finely on this surface. Just remember to clean it thoroughly after every use to prevent ink from clogging the pores of the raw stone. Overall, a great purchase for beginners.

Perfect for practicing calligraphy
As a beginner, I needed an inkstone that grinds well without being too expensive. This Zhaixuan stone is fantastic. The raw surface creates smooth ink quickly, and the large pool holds enough for a whole practice session.

Excellent value for students
I bought this for my university calligraphy club. It performs just as well as stones twice the price. The large ink pool is a huge plus when we are doing group demonstrations.
