Essential for quality control
This pen is incredibly accurate for checking surface tension on our packaging films. The 38 dyne level is exactly what we needed for our polyethylene substrates.

Q: What happens if the liquid beads up instead of spreading?
A: If the liquid beads up within 2 seconds, the surface tension of the material is lower than 38 mN/m, indicating that further treatment like corona discharge may be required for proper adhesion.
Q: Do you offer dyne pens in levels other than 38?
A: Yes, we stock a full range of ARCOTEST pens from 18 to 72 mN/m. Please contact us or search our store for the specific dyne level your application requires.
Q: Can this pen be used on metal surfaces?
A: While primarily designed for plastics and films, it can be used on treated metal surfaces to check cleanliness or coating readiness, provided the surface energy falls within the test range.
Q: How long does the ink last once the pen is opened?
A: If the cap is secured tightly immediately after each use, the pen typically remains effective for 6 to 9 months. Improper sealing may cause it to dry out sooner.
Q: Is the ink toxic or hazardous?
A: The ink contains formamide and other solvents. It should be used in a well-ventilated area and kept away from eyes and skin. Please refer to the SDS sheet for detailed safety information.
