Robust build, minor connector issue
We deployed five of these for a factory testing rig. They have been running 24/7 for three months without failure. One unit had a slightly loose JTAG header that needed reflowing, but customer support sent a replacement immediately. Overall very reliable for industrial environments.

Ideal for university FPGA courses
Bought this for my senior design project involving real-time image processing. The combination of the Altera Cyclone IV and the high-speed USB interface allowed us to stream video frames without dropping packets. The form factor fits nicely on a standard breadboard setup too.

Best FX3 dev board in this price range
Compared to other boards on the market, the layout here is much more logical. The separation between the FPGA fabric and the USB controller power domains reduces noise significantly. I'm getting clean signals on my oscilloscope readings. Will definitely buy more for our lab.

Perfect for prototyping Ethernet bridges
I needed a board to prototype a USB-to-Ethernet bridge with custom FPGA logic. This board handled the task perfectly. The LVDS pins are easily accessible, and the DDR2 integration saved me weeks of design time. Highly recommended for industrial control prototypes.

Great value but needs better driver examples
Hardware quality is solid and the soldering is clean. The FX3 chip works flawlessly once configured. However, the software examples for the ARM core inside the FX3 are a bit sparse. I had to dig into Cypress forums to find specific DMA configuration snippets. Still, for the price, it's a steal.

Excellent board for high-speed data logging
The USB 3.0 throughput on this Xiao Meige board is impressive. I successfully achieved sustained transfer rates close to the theoretical limit when streaming data from the FPGA to the host PC. The documentation provided was clear enough to get the example projects running in Quartus within an hour.
Q: Does this board come with pre-loaded firmware for the FX3 chip?
A: Yes, the board ships with a basic bootloader and a demo firmware image that enumerates as a bulk storage device. Source code for the firmware is available for download on our support portal to help you customize the USB descriptors.
Q: Is the Ethernet port capable of PoE (Power over Ethernet)?
A: No, the onboard Gigabit Ethernet connector is for data transmission only and does not support Power over Ethernet (PoE) input or output. The board must be powered via the USB port or the dedicated 5V DC barrel jack.
Q: Can I use this board with Vivado instead of Quartus?
A: No, this board utilizes an Altera (Intel) Cyclone IV FPGA, which requires Intel Quartus Prime software. Xilinx Vivado is designed for Xilinx FPGAs and is not compatible with the hardware architecture of this board.
