Solid Board, Minor Pinout Quirks
Overall a fantastic development board. The wireless range on 5GHz is impressive. Just note that some GPIO pins have specific boot strapping requirements, so check the schematic before designing your shield.

Fast Compilation and Upload
The bootloader is speedy, and upload times are significantly faster than my old ESP32 boards. The build quality feels premium, and the silkscreen labeling is clear and easy to read.

Perfect for Matter Protocol Development
Bought this specifically to test Matter over Thread. It works flawlessly out of the box. The USB-C port makes powering and debugging very convenient compared to older micro-USB boards.

Good Value for Multi-Protocol Needs
Having Zigbee, Thread, and Wi-Fi 6 on one cheap board is amazing. I deducted one star only because the external antenna connector requires a specific adapter not included in the package.

Excellent Wi-Fi 6 Support for IoT Projects
This board is a game changer for my smart home projects. The dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity is stable and fast. Setting up Thread and Zigbee was straightforward using the latest ESP-IDF.

Great RISC-V Performance
The quad-core RISC-V processor handles multitasking beautifully. I'm running a MQTT bridge with local processing without any lag. The documentation from Waveshare is also very helpful.
Q: Does this board support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks?
A: Yes, the ESP32-C5 chip supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6, allowing connections to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
Q: Does it come with an external antenna?
A: The board comes with a high-performance onboard PCB antenna. It also features an IPEX connector if you wish to attach a custom external antenna, but the external antenna itself is sold separately.
Q: Can I power this board via the GPIO headers instead of USB-C?
A: Yes, you can power the board by supplying 5V to the 5V pin and GND on the header. Please ensure the voltage is regulated and does not exceed 5.5V.
Q: What is the maximum current output on the 3.3V pin?
A: The onboard LDO regulator can supply up to 600mA, but we recommend drawing no more than 300mA from the 3.3V pin to ensure stability during Wi-Fi transmission spikes.
Q: Is this compatible with the Arduino IDE?
A: Absolutely. You can use this board with the Arduino IDE by installing the appropriate ESP32 board manager package and selecting the ESP32-C5 variant.
