Amazing price point
I bought three of these for a university lab. They are robust, cheap, and powerful enough for most introductory digital logic courses. The built-in flash makes deployment easy.

Great hardware, steep learning curve
The board itself is high quality and compact. The Gowin software took some time to install and get used to compared to Xilinx tools, but once running, it works flawlessly. Good documentation from the community.

Exceeded expectations
Fast shipping and the board arrived in perfect condition. I was able to blink an LED within 30 minutes of unboxing. Great starter kit for Verilog learners.

Perfect entry-level FPGA board
This is an incredible value for anyone wanting to learn FPGA development. The HDMI output works great for simple video projects, and the USB-C programming is very convenient. Highly recommended for beginners.

Compact and capable
Love the small form factor. I integrated it into a custom enclosure for a retro gaming project. The GPIO headers are well-spaced and easy to solder if you need custom connections.

Solid choice for hobbyists
Works exactly as described. The only downside is that the official documentation can be sparse in English, but the open-source community has filled most gaps with tutorials.
Q: Does this board come with a USB cable included?
A: Yes, the package typically includes a USB Type-C to Type-A cable for power and programming.
Q: Where can I download the necessary software drivers?
A: You can download the Gowin EDA software and drivers directly from the official Gowin Semiconductor website or find links in the product wiki on the Sipeed GitHub repository.
Q: What is the maximum resolution supported on the HDMI output?
A: While dependent on your specific design implementation, the hardware supports standard resolutions up to 720p at 60Hz comfortably given the resource constraints of the GW1N-1 chip.
Q: Can I use this with Python or is it strictly Verilog/VHDL?
A: The FPGA itself is programmed using Hardware Description Languages like Verilog or VHDL via Gowin EDA. However, you can interface it with a microcontroller running Python if your project architecture requires it.
Q: Is the 3.3V logic level tolerant of 5V inputs?
A: No, the GPIO pins operate at 3.3V logic levels. Connecting 5V signals directly may damage the board. Please use a logic level shifter if interfacing with 5V devices.
