Solid core board, minimal peripherals
As a minimum system board, it does its job well. You get the MCU, crystal, reset circuit, and power regulation. Just remember you need to breadboard your own peripherals since there are no onboard LEDs or buttons besides reset.

Reliable and compact
The build quality is surprisingly good for the cost. The soldering on the pins is clean, and the chip sits flush. I've used three of these now for different prototypes, and all have worked immediately out of the box.

Great compatibility with Arduino IDE
I was able to upload code using the STM32duino bootloader without any issues. The compilation time is fast, and the performance is significantly better than standard 8-bit boards for my robotics project.

Good documentation support online
While the included paper manual is basic, there are tons of resources online for this specific chip. The datasheet is easy to find, and community examples helped me get the UART working in minutes.

Perfect for learning ARM Cortex-M3

Essential for industrial control prototyping
We use these for initial proof-of-concept designs before moving to custom PCBs. The timer and ADC capabilities are robust enough for most sensor reading applications. Highly recommended for engineers.
Q: Does this board come with an onboard programmer?
A: No, this is a minimum system board and does not include an onboard ST-Link programmer. You will need an external ST-Link V2 or compatible debugger to upload code via SWD.
Q: Can I power this board directly via USB?
A: No, this board does not have a micro-USB port. It must be powered via the 5V and GND pins using an external power supply or a USB-to-TTL adapter that provides 5V output.
Q: Are the headers pre-soldered?
A: Yes, the male pin headers are pre-soldered to the board, allowing you to plug it directly into a breadboard immediately upon receipt.
Q: Is the chip pre-flashed with a bootloader?
A: Typically, these boards come with a blank chip or a generic test program. If you wish to use the Arduino IDE, you may need to flash the STM32duino bootloader yourself using an ST-Link programmer first.
