Good value but requires soldering skills
The components are high quality, but this is definitely not for beginners who haven't soldered before. Once assembled, the voltage readings are surprisingly accurate compared to my bench multimeter.

Solid design, documentation could be better
The hardware design is robust. However, the code comments in the sample firmware could be more detailed for those trying to modify the logic. Still, a great starting point for custom meter designs.

Excellent learning platform for embedded systems
This kit provided a fantastic hands-on experience with the 8051 architecture. The schematic is clear, and the Bluetooth integration works seamlessly with the provided Android app example. Great for university projects.

Works well but LED brightness varies
Functionality is spot on, but I noticed some inconsistency in the brightness of the 7-segment displays across different digits. Had to adjust the current limiting resistors slightly.

Perfect for classroom demonstrations
We bought ten of these for our electronics lab. Students love seeing the real-time data transmission to their phones. The multi-range feature is very useful for different experiments.
Q: Are replacement 7-segment displays available if one gets damaged during soldering?
A: Yes, we sell component packs separately. The displays use a standard common cathode configuration, so generic replacements found in most electronics stores will also work.
Q: Does this kit come with pre-programmed firmware or do I need to write code from scratch?
A: The kit includes a hex file for basic voltmeter functionality that can be flashed immediately. Source code is also provided so you can modify it to add features like data logging or alarms.
Q: Is the Bluetooth module compatible with iOS devices?
A: The included HC-05/HC-06 module is primarily designed for Android. For iOS compatibility, you may need to swap it with a BLE-specific module like the HM-10 and update the firmware accordingly.
Q: Can I power this board using a 9V battery?
A: Yes, the board has a regulator that accepts input from 7V to 12V, so a standard 9V battery connector can be easily added to the designated pins.
Q: What is the maximum input voltage this board can handle without damage?
A: The standard configuration supports up to 20V DC. For higher voltages, you will need to modify the input voltage divider circuit as described in the technical manual.
