Perfect starter kit for AI voice projects
This board is incredible out of the box. The Xiaozhi AI chat function works smoothly over 4G without needing complex Wi-Fi setup. The 16MB flash gives plenty of room for custom firmware if you want to modify it later.

Great hardware, documentation could be better
The ESP32-S3 chip is powerful and the 4G module connects quickly. I love the included screen and case. However, the English translation in the manual was a bit sparse, so I had to rely on community forums for advanced configuration.

My first IoT success

Ready for customization
While the pre-loaded AI is fun, the real power is in the ability to flash your own code via Arduino IDE or ESP-IDF. The pinout is standard and accessible. Highly recommended for prototyping smart devices.

Solid build quality
The PCB layout is clean and the components are well-soldered. The 4G antenna performance is surprisingly good indoors. Only minor issue is the speaker volume could be slightly louder for noisy environments.

Excellent value for money
Getting an ESP32-S3 with 8MB PSRAM, a screen, a case, and a 4G module for this price is unbeatable. The voice recognition latency is very low, making conversations feel natural.
Q: Is the battery included rechargeable via the USB-C port?
A: Yes, the included Lithium-Polymer battery can be charged directly through the USB Type-C port on the board. A charging indicator LED is provided.
Q: Can I change the AI personality or language settings?
A: Yes, the Xiaozhi firmware allows configuration of language and some personality traits via the web configuration portal when the device is connected to the same network as your PC.
Q: Does this board support standard SIM cards or only Nano SIM?
A: The LuXiaoBan 4G version uses a Nano SIM card slot. Please ensure your SIM is cut to the correct size before insertion.
Q: Is the source code for the Xiaozhi AI open source?
A: The underlying ESP32 drivers are open source, but the specific Xiaozhi cloud interaction firmware is proprietary. However, you can completely wipe the board and develop your own applications from scratch.
Q: What 4G bands does this module support?
A: The integrated Cat.1 module primarily supports B1/B3/B5/B8/B20/B28/B38/B40/B41 bands, covering most regions in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Please check compatibility with your local carrier.
