Great value, minor documentation gaps
The hardware quality is solid and the RISC-V core performs well. I deducted one star because the pinout diagram on the box was slightly faded, but the online docs compensated for it.

Reliable for prototyping
We used five of these for a quick proof-of-concept at work. They remained stable over 48 hours of continuous testing. The only downside is the lack of a battery connector header, requiring soldering.

Best starter board for ESP32-C3
As someone new to embedded systems, I found the community support for this specific chip excellent. It uploaded my first blink sketch in seconds without any driver issues on Windows 11.

Perfect for IoT projects
This board is incredibly easy to set up. The USB-C connection works flawlessly with my laptop, and the Wi-Fi range is surprisingly good for such a small form factor. Highly recommended for beginners.

Compact and powerful
Don't let the size fool you; this thing packs a punch. The 4MB flash is sufficient for most OTA update scenarios, and the signal strength rivals boards twice its size.

Bluetooth LE works out of the box
I needed a board specifically for Bluetooth Low Energy sensors, and this delivered immediately. Pairing was instant, and the battery consumption is very low during sleep modes.
Q: What is the maximum current draw per GPIO pin?
A: Each GPIO pin can source or sink up to 40mA. However, the total current for all ports combined should not exceed the chip's maximum rating to avoid damage.
Q: Is the CH343 driver automatically installed on macOS?
A: Most modern macOS versions recognize it automatically. If not, you may need to install the latest WCH USB-to-UART drivers from their official website.
Q: Does this board support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks?
A: No, the ESP32-C3 chip only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bands. It does not have 5GHz capability.
Q: Does this come with pre-soldered headers?
A: This specific model usually ships without headers soldered to allow for flexible mounting options. You will need to solder them yourself if you plan to use it on a breadboard.
Q: Can I power this board directly with a 3.7V LiPo battery?
A: Yes, you can connect a LiPo battery to the BAT pins if you solder a header there, or use the 5V VIN pin which has a regulator. Please ensure voltage does not exceed specifications.
