Good start, needed more leaves

Q: Is this kit safe for young children to handle?

A: Yes, silkworms are gentle and safe to handle. However, we recommend adult supervision to ensure hands are clean before touching them and that they are handled gently to avoid injury.

Q: Can I use lettuce if I run out of mulberry leaves?

A: No, silkworms strictly eat mulberry leaves. Lettuce or other greens do not provide the necessary nutrients and can be harmful to them. Please order extra leaves in advance.

Q: What temperature is best for raising these silkworms?

A: Ideally, keep your silkworms in a room between 75°F and 85°F (24°C - 29°C). Avoid direct sunlight or drafts which can cause temperature fluctuations.

Q: How long does it take for them to spin a cocoon?

A: From the stage received (ages 1-4), it typically takes about 2 to 3 weeks for them to reach full maturity and begin spinning their cocoons, depending on temperature and feeding.

Q: How often do I need to feed the silkworms?

A: Silkworms should be fed fresh mulberry leaves daily. Ensure the leaves are dry and free from pesticides. Remove any old, dried-out leaves before adding new ones.
