Perfect for heavy fabrics
I bought this to hem jeans and make curtains. The heavy-duty frame handles multiple layers without skipping stitches. Very impressed with the build quality.

Sturdy and quiet
Much quieter than my previous plastic machine. The desktop design fits perfectly in my craft room corner. Highly recommend for hobbyists.

Reliable workhorse
I've been sewing for 20 years and this Butterfly model reminds me of the old reliable machines. It doesn't vibrate much even at high speeds.

Love the LED light
The lighting is excellent for detailed work. The multi-function capabilities allow me to do everything from basic repairs to creative embroidery projects.

Great value for home use
Solid machine for the price. The foot pedal is responsive, and the overlock function works well once you get the tension adjusted correctly.

Good but learning curve exists
The machine is powerful, but the manual could be clearer on setting up the overlock feature. Once figured out, it works great.
Q: Is the foot pedal included in the box?
A: Yes, the package includes the main unit, the variable speed foot pedal, power cord, and a starter kit of bobbins and needles.
Q: What is the maximum sewing speed?
A: The maximum speed is approximately 1,100 stitches per minute, which is fully controlled by how hard you press the foot pedal.
Q: Can it sew through leather?
A: Yes, the heavy-duty motor and metal frame are capable of handling thin to medium-weight leather, provided you use the appropriate needle.
Q: How do I clean the lint from the overlock area?
A: Please refer to page 15 of the user manual for instructions on removing the cover plate. Use the included small brush to gently remove lint after every few projects.
Q: Does this machine come with a carrying case?
A: No, the JH8230A / 8190S is designed as a stationary desktop model and does not include a portable carrying case.
