Good value but needs warm-up
Great sensor for the price. Just remember that it needs a long preheat time (about 24 hours) before the readings become accurate. Once warmed up, it detects LPG very quickly.

Easy to interface
The pinout is standard and makes wiring very simple. The documentation provided by the seller was helpful. Deducting one star because the soldering on the pins could be slightly cleaner.

Perfect for my home safety project
This sensor module works exactly as described. I integrated it with an Arduino to monitor gas levels in my kitchen prototype. The analog output is stable, and the digital threshold is easy to adjust with the onboard potentiometer.

Essential for IoT projects
Bought five of these for a classroom project on smart homes. All units performed consistently. Students were able to calibrate them easily using the trimmer pot.

Reliable detection
I tested this with a small amount of natural gas leak simulation, and the LED indicator triggered immediately. It's a solid component for any DIY gas alarm system.

Works well but consumes power
The sensing capability is good, but note that the heating element draws a fair amount of current. Not ideal for battery-powered projects unless you put it to sleep periodically.
Q: Does this module come with a cable or headers?
A: The module comes with male header pins already soldered. Cables are not included but can be purchased separately.
Q: What is the difference between the DO and AO pins?
A: AO (Analog Output) provides a voltage proportional to the gas concentration, while DO (Digital Output) acts as a switch that goes high or low when a threshold is crossed.
Q: Is this sensor suitable for outdoor use?
A: While it can function outdoors, the module is not weatherproof. We recommend placing it inside a ventilated enclosure to protect it from rain and direct sunlight.
Q: Can this sensor detect methane specifically?
A: Yes, the MQ-5 is sensitive to natural gas which primarily consists of methane, as well as LPG and city gas.
Q: How long does it take to ship to New York?
A: Standard shipping to New York typically takes 5-7 business days. Express options are available at checkout for faster delivery.
