Good sensitivity, needs calibration

The module is very sensitive to UV rays. I had to write a small calibration script to map the voltage to actual UV index values, but once done, it works great for monitoring plant exposure.

Excellent detection range

I use this to track peak sun hours for my solar panels. It detects even slight cloud cover changes effectively. Highly recommended for DIY solar projects.

Q: Does it detect UVA, UVB, or both?

A: The spectral response covers a broad range typically including both UVA and UVB wavelengths (approx. 200nm-370nm), suitable for general sunlight intensity monitoring.

Q: Does this sensor output digital or analog signals?

A: The S12SD module outputs an analog voltage signal proportional to the detected UV intensity. You will need an ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) to read it with a microcontroller.

Q: What is the maximum distance for accurate detection?

A: This is a proximity sensor designed to measure ambient UV light falling directly on the sensor surface. It does not detect UV sources from a distance like a radar; it measures incident light intensity.

Q: Can this be used directly with a 5V Arduino Uno?

A: Yes, the sensor operates comfortably within the 3.3V to 5V range, making it fully compatible with the 5V logic of the Arduino Uno.

Q: Is the sensor waterproof?

A: The module itself is not waterproof. For outdoor use, please house it in a weatherproof enclosure with a UV-transparent window.
