Solid performance
Does exactly what it says. It's not waterproof entirely (the electronics side), so make sure you seal that part if burying it deep. The sensing fork itself handles water perfectly.

Perfect for school projects
Used this for my final year smart car kit. The response time is fast enough for real-time monitoring. Highly recommend for students and hobbyists alike.

Finally, a sensor that doesn't rust!
I've burned through so many resistive sensors in the past year. This capacitive module is a game changer. After three weeks in wet soil, there is absolutely no corrosion on the probes. The readings are stable and easy to calibrate with my Arduino.

Great value for DIY projects
Works perfectly for my automated watering system. The analog output is smooth. I deducted one star because the included header pins were slightly bent upon arrival, but nothing a pair of pliers couldn't fix.

Easy to integrate
Plug and play with ESP32. The library examples found online work immediately with this hardware. The signal noise is minimal even when the pump turns on nearby.

Accurate and durable
I bought five of these for my greenhouse project. They detect moisture changes very quickly compared to my old sensors. The gold plating gives me confidence they will last the whole season.
Q: What is the expected lifespan compared to resistive sensors?
A: Because this uses capacitive sensing with gold-plated nickel probes, it resists electrolytic corrosion significantly better than resistive sensors. While resistive sensors may fail in weeks, these can often last over a year in continuous damp conditions.
Q: How deep should I insert the sensor into the soil?
A: For best results, insert the forked part completely into the soil, but ensure the black PCB component area remains above the soil line to prevent water damage to the circuitry.
Q: Can this sensor be used directly with a 12V power supply?
A: No, the sensor operates on 3.3V to 5V DC. Connecting it directly to 12V will damage the module. Please use a voltage regulator or a microcontroller board like Arduino which provides 5V output.
Q: Does this measure pH levels or just water content?
A: This module detects only soil moisture (volumetric water content) via capacitive sensing. It does not measure pH, nutrient levels, or temperature.
Q: Is the cable long enough for outdoor garden beds?
A: The module typically comes with short pins or a short cable depending on the specific SKU. For outdoor beds, we recommend soldering extension wires or using a PH2.0 extension cable to reach your controller.
