Reliable X-Band performance
I've tested several microwave sensors, and this one offers consistent results. The 10.525GHz frequency penetrates non-metallic materials well, which was crucial for my hidden installation.

Compact and powerful
Small form factor makes it easy to hide in enclosures. The output signal is clean enough for basic microcontroller processing without excessive noise filtering.

Good value, requires tuning
Solid sensor for the price. You do need to add some external circuitry to amplify the signal properly, but that is expected for a raw module. Works well for detecting human movement.

Perfect for DIY motion projects
This HB100 module works exactly as described. I used it to build a custom automatic light switch for my workshop, and the sensitivity is impressive. Easy to interface with an Arduino.

Works well but sensitive to vibration
The detection range is good, but I had to mount it very securely because it picks up mechanical vibrations as motion. Once stabilized, it works perfectly for my garage door opener prototype.
Q: Does this come with a connector or just pins?
A: This item is sold as a bare module with solder pads. You will need to solder wires or headers to connect it to your circuit.
Q: Is this suitable for measuring vehicle speed?
A: While it uses Doppler shift which is the principle behind speed guns, accurate speed measurement requires specific signal processing and calibration. It is possible but requires advanced engineering.
Q: What is the maximum detection distance?
A: Detection range varies based on the size of the moving object and environmental factors. For a walking human, it typically detects motion up to 20 meters in open space.
Q: Can this sensor detect motion through a thin plastic wall?
A: Yes, microwave signals at 10.525 GHz can typically penetrate non-metallic materials like plastic, wood, or glass, provided they are not too thick or dense.
Q: What voltage does this module require?
A: The HB100 module operates on a DC supply voltage between 4.5V and 5.5V. It is commonly powered by a standard 5V USB source or a regulated 5V rail.
