Perfect for my Arduino project

Solid component

The relay click is audible and distinct. The photoresistor reacts quickly to changes in light. I wish the mounting holes were slightly larger for M4 screws, but M3 fits perfectly.

Exceeded expectations

Good value, easy to wire

Reliable dusk-to-dawn sensor

Installed two of these for my solar pathway lights. They have been working consistently for three weeks now, turning on precisely at dusk. The hysteresis seems stable, so it doesn't flicker during twilight.

Q: Can this module directly control a 110V or 220V AC lamp?

A: No, this module outputs a DC signal suitable for low-voltage DC loads or as a trigger signal. To control high-voltage AC appliances, you must connect this module's output to a separate AC-rated relay or contactor.

Q: Does this come with connecting wires?

A: The package includes only the photoresistor module itself. Connecting wires, headers, or power supplies are not included and need to be purchased separately.

Q: Is the sensitivity adjustable?

A: Yes, there is a blue potentiometer on the board. You can rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the light threshold at which the relay switches on or off.

Q: What is the maximum current the onboard relay can handle?

A: The onboard relay is rated for a maximum of 10A. However, we recommend staying below 8A for continuous operation to ensure longevity and prevent overheating.

Q: Can I use this with a 3.3V microcontroller like ESP32?

A: While the sensor part works at 3.3V, the relay coil typically requires 5V to activate reliably. We recommend powering the module with 5V and using a logic level shifter if you are reading the signal pin with a 3.3V MCU, or simply use the module as a standalone switch powered by 5V.
