Good value, easy to use
Works well out of the box. The LEDs make debugging very easy. Only giving 4 stars because the mounting holes are a bit tight for standard screws, but overall a solid module.

Solid little sensor
Does what it says on the tin. Sensitivity range is good enough for most household vibration alerts. Shipping was fast and packaging protected the components well.

Great for beginners
I am new to electronics and this was very easy to wire up. The documentation online is plentiful, and the module itself is robust. Highly recommend for learning projects.

Perfect for my alarm project
This sensor works exactly as described. I connected it to my Arduino Uno and the sensitivity adjustment is very responsive. Great for detecting vibrations on a door frame.

Excellent quality
The soldering points are clean and the potentiometer feels durable. I've tested it with both 3.3V and 5V systems without any issues. A staple component for my inventory now.

Reliable vibration detection
Used these in a batch of 10 for a student robotics competition. All units performed consistently. The normally closed logic is standard and easy to implement in code.
Q: Does this come with header pins pre-soldered?
A: No, the module usually comes with the header pins separate in the package to prevent damage during shipping. You will need to solder them on yourself, which allows for flexible mounting options.
Q: Can this module be used directly with a 3.3V microcontroller like ESP8266?
A: Yes, the SW420 module operates within a voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic microcontrollers like the ESP8266 or ESP32.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity of the vibration detection?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (detect smaller vibrations) and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Q: What is the output state when no vibration is detected?
A: Since this is a 'Normally Closed' type module, the output pin will be HIGH (or low depending on your pull-up/down configuration, typically conducting) when no vibration is present, and it switches state when vibration is detected.
Q: Is this suitable for outdoor use?
A: The PCB itself is not waterproof or weatherproof. If you plan to use it outdoors, you must enclose it in a waterproof housing to protect it from moisture and dust.
