Good value, clear documentation needed
The sensor itself is high quality and triggers reliably. I deducted one star because the pinout wasn't clearly printed on the back, so I had to look up the datasheet online. Once connected, it performed flawlessly.

Compact and sensitive

Reliable vibration detection
We bought ten of these for a student workshop on home automation. All units worked out of the box. The normally closed configuration is great for fail-safe alarm circuits. Highly recommended for educational use.

Perfect for my Arduino security project

Great for prototype alarms

Works well with ESP32
Integrated this with an ESP32 for a smart mailbox notifier. It detects the vibration of mail dropping in accurately. Just ensure you use a pull-up resistor if your microcontroller requires it, though most have internal ones.
Q: What is the maximum current this sensor can switch directly?
A: The SW-420 is designed as a signal sensor for microcontrollers, not for driving high-power loads directly. It should only be connected to GPIO pins. If you need to drive a relay or siren, please use a transistor or MOSFET driver circuit.
Q: Is there a delay between vibration and signal output?
A: The response is nearly instantaneous, typically in the millisecond range. There is no built-in programmable delay on the hardware itself; any debouncing or time-delay logic must be handled in your code.
Q: Can I use this with a 3.3V logic system like the ESP8266?
A: Yes, the module operates comfortably within the 3.3V to 5V range, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic systems such as the ESP8266 and ESP32 without needing level shifters.
Q: Does this module output high or low when vibration is detected?
A: Since this is a Normally Closed (NC) module, the output is typically LOW during normal conditions. When vibration exceeds the threshold set by the potentiometer, the switch opens, and the output goes HIGH.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (detect smaller vibrations) and counter-clockwise to decrease sensitivity. Use a small screwdriver for adjustment while testing.
