Compact and Reliable
Used this for a home automation voice trigger. The small form factor fit perfectly inside my 3D printed enclosure. Power consumption is low as advertised.

Perfect for Arduino Voice Projects
The AGC feature works flawlessly. I connected this to my Arduino Uno and the voice clarity is impressive even when moving away from the mic. Very easy to wire up.

Good for educational kits
Bought ten of these for our workshop. Most worked perfectly out of the box. One had a loose pin but was easily soldered back. Great for teaching signal processing basics.

Great value, minor noise floor
For the price, this module is unbeatable. There is a slight hiss if you max out the gain in a quiet room, but for normal speech detection, it performs excellently.

Superior AGC performance
Unlike cheaper modules without AGC, this handles loud shouts and quiet whispers without clipping or disappearing. Highly recommended for any voice interface.
Q: What is the output impedance of the audio signal?
A: The output is designed to drive high-impedance inputs typical of microcontroller ADCs, generally around 2kOhms.
Q: How long are the header pins if I want to mount this flush?
A: The standard headers are approximately 11mm tall. For flush mounting, we recommend desoldering them and using short pin headers or soldering wires directly.
Q: Is there a way to disable the Automatic Gain Control?
A: No, the MAX9814 chip has fixed AGC functionality that cannot be disabled; it is designed to maintain consistent output levels automatically.
Q: Does this module come with the microphone capsule included?
A: Yes, the module includes a pre-soldered electret microphone capsule ready for use.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 3.3V pin on an ESP32?
A: Absolutely. The operating voltage range is 2.7V to 5.5V, so 3.3V is within the safe operating limits.
